Harshal Patel Becomes the Fastest Indian to Claim 150 IPL Wickets: Sets New Record!

On May 19 (Monday), Indian pacer Harshal Patel created a sensation by becoming the fastest bowler to claim 150 wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL). 

The 34-year-old achieved this exceptional feat during the 61st match of IPL 2025 between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Ekana Stadium. 

The Sunrisers pace bowler surpassed former Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga’s record, who attained this milestone delivering 2,444 balls. 

Also, the right arm medium pacer ranks as the fastest Indian to grab his 150th wicket in just 114 innings, thereby overtaking Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal in the elite list. 

Who Was Harshal Patel’s 150th IPL Wicket? 

Surprisingly, LSG’s opening batter Aiden Markram became a prey to Harshal Patel’s 150th IPL wicket in the 11th over of the match between SRH and LSG. 

The South African veteran fumed with his blistering knock of 61 runs from 38 balls (including 4 fours and 4 sixes) at a strike rate of 160.53. 

Markram provided a solid start for his team by stitching a 115-run partnership with Mitchell Marsh. But, Harshal’s strategy to deliver a stunning yorker rattled the stumps, that brought SRH back into the game with Aiden’s dismissal. 

Although Patel conceded 44 runs in his 4-over spell, but claimed a crucial wicket of Lucknow’s most dangerous batter.
